Pedestrian Critically Injured Falling Off Tailgate, Being Run Over By Truck In Maryland: PD

A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after falling off of a pickup truck tailgate that then backed over him in a Montgomery County work zone, police say.

On Thursday morning, first responders were called to the 3500 block of Cherry Valley Drive in Olney, where there was a reported crash involving a Ford F-250 and a pedestrian that left one hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say that the pedestrian was sitting on the tailgate of the truck that was being used at a work site, and when the Ford was backing up, the pedestrian fell into the roadway and was run over by the vehicle. 

The driver remained at the scene.

Following the incident, the pedestrian was rushed to an area hospital. Their condition was not immediately available on Friday morning.

The incident remains under investigation.
